Dominique Lagneaux — From shadow to light

Dominique Lagneaux was born in 1952 in Amiens. He passed away on 24 March 2024 in Paris, at the age of seventy-one.
A discreet and luminous artist, he was long associated with the La Ruche community in Paris, a creative hub where so many artists have crossed paths and continue to do so. In his studio, which he inhabited as an extension of himself, he presented his work surrounded by his canvases.
His discretion and humility were his true creative wealth. But they kept him away from the market and, more broadly, from the art world — thus depriving him of the recognition he deserved.
Lagneaux liked to return to the same motif: an object, a window, a corner of a table, the simple trace of a glass. Through repetition, he approached the mystery of the visible, as if the gesture, repeated over and over again, eventually opened up a new design. Each canvas was born from the previous one, carrying an echo, a subtle variation, a new breath of life.
