DAVID TREMLETT WALL DRAWING
The exhibition
For its first solo show, Espace Art Absolument has invited David Tremlett (b. 1945), a major figure in British abstraction, to execute a large-scale Wall Drawing in situ alongside a group of works on paper from the 1970s to the present day, selected by the artist. In this way, the exhibition aims to offer a perspective and a retrospective look at Tremlett's work, a strong and sensitive art form nourished by his extensive travels and his interest in architecture.
David Tremlett's Wall Drawings, of great graphic and chromatic refinement, draw on sources as diverse as Aboriginal, Etruscan and Nebele art, as well as the great masters of the Renaissance (Giotto, Pierro della Francesca, Mantegna, etc.). This mural art, in constant dialogue with both the architecture and the viewer, develops a veritable poetics of place, gesture and time.
