David Tremlett, a major figure in British abstraction, is a British painter and sculptor. He has held numerous solo exhibitions around the world and produced monumental "Wall Drawings". He rejects the classical hierarchy between the arts, which presupposes a separation between painting, sculpture and architecture. In his practice, Tremlett has developed an entirely personal conception of wall drawing. Manual execution gives his creations a powerful sensory dimension. These works modify space and establish a veritable poetics of place, gesture and time, seeking to transmit their memory. His strong, sensitive art is nourished by his many travels and his interest in architecture.
