The exhibition

Benjamin of the Groupe de Roubaix and a loyal friend of La Piscine, which has presented his work on several occasions, Marc Ronet, with the active complicity of his wife Monique, wished to offer the museum a group of some twenty paintings that would tell the story of his career as an artist, built entirely on a feverish struggle with painting. This donation, designed to enrich an already substantial collection held by the museum thanks to repeated purchases and, above all, donations from various collectors - notably Bernard and Marie-Hélène Duchange - and friends of the museum, comes at a time when the MUba in Tourcoing is devoting a major exhibition to the artist.

Trained at the Académie Saint-Luc in Tournai in Eugène Dodeigne's studio, and close to Eugène Leroy, with whom he shared a deep and admiring friendship, Marc Ronet has forged his path in a harsh and constant relationship with painting. The recurring themes and motifs in his work - self-portraits, tables, boxes, flowers, hanging linen - have no narrative meaning, but impose themselves like scales constantly brought into play in the solitude of the studio.
