The Fondation Dubuffet is undoubtedly one of the few and very first institutions in France to be founded by the artist himself. Jean Dubuffet set up his own foundation to ensure respect for his work, but also to keep a significant body of his work grouped together and accessible to the public.

The Fondation Dubuffet has two sites: one in Périgny-sur-Yerres in the Val-de-Marne department and the other in the 6th arrondissement of Paris.
