Since 1959, the building, which has been known as the "Palais d'Iéna", has been occupied by the Economic and Social Council, a consultative assembly established by the 1958 Constitution. The collections of the former Musée des Travaux Publics are currently on loan to La Défense. In 1987, the decorator Pierre Paulin was commissioned by the French government to design the furniture for the hypostyle hall in the Iéna wing. Mosaics designed by Martial Raysse have recently been added to the metopes in the rotunda. In June 2021, the Palais d'Iéna has joined the Colline des Arts collective, bringing together 11 institutions on the Colline de Chaillot to renew the cultural itinerary of this extremely popular district of the capital.
