La Marrade : rire plus fort, prendre la place
The exhibition
In an art world where prestige is too often confused with rigidity, bringing laughter into a museum is a political gesture. This is even more striking when visiting La Marrade during Art Week: a welcome escape from pretentiousness, a return to archives that are as electrifying as a demonstration.
It is valuable that the LAAC embraces laughter as a force for subversion. For the context is not neutral: misogyny and inequality remain firmly entrenched in our circles. The list of names posted in the toilets at Art Basel reminds those who do not see them... Here, however, a counter-narrative is being developed, meticulous, documented, joyful.
