The exhibition

It is difficult not to recall the famous verses of L'Invitation au voyage when visiting the exhibition dedicated to Paul Poiret at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Although born twelve years after Charles Baudelaire's death, the fashion designer evolved in the same aesthetic universe. The taffeta draperies, heady velvets and oriental embroideries that forged his style are those that adorned Les Fleurs du Mal
and its opium den fumes.
