The exhibition

With the exhibition Karina Bisch, la tête dans le décor at the Musée national Fernand-Léger in Biot, Bisch has engaged in a subtle and daring dialogue with the painter's humanist aesthetic, revealing the common ground underlying their respective practices: an approach to colour that is both constructive and emancipated, an active relationship with the wall and monumentality, and a desire to reconcile art and life. In keeping with this desire for a total work of art, which is rooted in the ideal of synthesising the arts that was so dear to the avant-garde (Bauhaus, De Stijl, Russian Constructivism, etc.), Karina Bisch has presented her works and those of Fernand Léger, playing on contrasting scales and techniques (patchwork, sculpture, tapestry, painting, ceramics) in an original scenography. What's more, the exhibition was signposted in collaboration with graphic designer Olivier Lebrun, who also produced a yellow leaflet to serve as a catalogue, with poetic notes by artist Nicolas Chardon.
