Agnès Varda, Je suis curieuse. Point
The exhibition
The Musée Pierre-Soulages in Rodez celebrates the Franco-Belgian director Agnès Varda in all her curiosity. Playing on the friendly relationship between the two artists, forged in Sète and then captured in the film Les Plages d'Agnès (2008), the exhibition freely combines the photographic collection relating to the filming of La Pointe courte (1955), Varda's portraits of Soulages and the construction of huts, all in evocation of the sea and beaches. With her insatiable curiosity, Agnès Varda has devoted her life to creation in all its forms, on the edge of all the arts. Photographer, filmmaker, then visual artist, she has multiplied her ways of apprehending the image, of taming the gaze and space to respond to the “imperious need to express
things in the best possible way”. Her singularly mute early clichés are extended by the visual writing of her filmography, to embody space through its objects, abolishing the boundaries between creation and reality.
