The exhibition
Inspired by the figure of Emily Dickinson, a reclusive poetess with a vast imagination, this exhibition explores the power of the intimate and the domestic as a source of creation. Like Dickinson, who turned her bedroom into an infinite poetic universe, the exhibition takes over the Nouvelle Galerie - a house inhabited by stories - to reveal the resonances between living space and mental space.
Curator Paul de Sorbier has brought together three artists. Tom Sam, whose intimate, introspective paintings hint at deep, silent presences; Sylvie Sauvageon, who reinvents fragments of reality (wallpapers, domestic scenes) on the scale of the home; and Juliette Liautaud, whose black-and-white photography evokes absence, memories and wandering thoughts.
Through these works, the exhibition invites us to reflect on the home as a sensitive territory, inhabited by memory, dreams and the imaginary. It's a celebration of the inner world, where stillness becomes a journey.
