From the Grand Siècle to the Enlightenment there is a dawn: the Regency; that of Philippe d'Orléans, only son of Monsieur – quite simply – brother of the King, who, after a coup, reduced the majesty's will to nothing. Eclipse? No ; the opposite: renewal anchoring the political stability of the barely emerging century and the sustainability of a style.
