The exhibition

With the largest collection of works from the Art & Language movement, the Château de Montsoreau rightly describes itself as a "museum of contemporary art". Situated at the confluence of the Vienne and Loire rivers, the château was built in the mid-15th century, and over the years has undergone a number of transformations to give it the look and feel of a romantic château. Acquired in 2015 by a collector keen on conceptual art, it quickly established itself on the artistic scene with a radical programme of exhibitions, including those by Agnès Thurnauer, Ettore Sottsass, Roman Signer, Didier Faustino and Patrick Tosani. In 2016, the château created the François Morellet Prize, awarded each year to a literary work or an author for their commitment to contemporary art. Catherine Millet, ORLAN and Bernar Venet are among the lucky winners.
