The exhibition
"I think we all have a gift, big or small. Mine is that of color." Inspired by Matisse and Yves Klein, Didier Mencoboni makes chromatic experimentation the essence of his work. The dot is his most recurrent motif, a way to free himself from the question of form. On canvas, paper, fabric or mirror, the color tends to extract itself from the frame in order to invest the space. This liberation of the pigment reaches its apogee with mobiles such as rains of colored pastilles in volume, entitled Revolutions.
The Espace de l'Art Concret in Mouans-Sartroux stages a retrospective of the colorist's career since 2000. The spectator is immersed in a universe of formal games and chromatic combinations, where the limit of the work seems elusive.
