The exhibition

At the foot of the Montagne Noire, near Carcassonne, the former wine cooperative of Montolieu now houses the formidable collection of Cérès Franco. Parisian by adoption, historian and distinguished gallery owner, the Brazilian has never ceased throughout her life to collect works by artists from all over the world, united by their creative freedom and authenticity. A pioneer who saw beyond art brut, she looked at Cobra and post-Cobra, met Corneille, Lucebert, Macréau and the hardliners of the New Figuration. 2022 highlights both the exceptional number of women artists of all nationalities who are present, but also the strength of a cross-view between contemporary artists and those in the collection. From Dominique d'Acher to Cecilia Granara, through Chaïbia and Cristina Salgado, it is a great journey in sublime and relentless femininity.
