Jeanne Mathas
Jeanne Mathas is an art historian specialising in twentieth-century and contemporary art. A graduate of the École du Louvre, after an exchange at Columbia University (New York), she obtained an international MBA in cultural management in 2023. Co-founder of the association Nous sommes au regret, she is currently administrator and coordinator of Wonder, an artists' collective based in Bobigny.
Jeanne Mathas is also an independent critic and curator. Her research explores, among other things, the overcoming of essentialism in American ecofeminist art (1965-1990) and its queer ramifications in emerging contemporary art. At the same time, she teaches and explores textile art through courses and seminars entitled ‘À celleux qui tissent’ (To those who weave) at the UCO in Angers. Her areas of expertise include the remanence of images, analogies and refusals in contemporary creation.
