Sarah Morris, living between London and New York, is a self-taught artist. She graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1988 with a degree in political and social sciences, then worked as an assistant to American artist Jeff Koons before attending the independent study program at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in 1990. Her work, which spans the genres of painting and video, is now famous for its large abstract geometric compositions inspired by American cities and the power structures that define them. Her early works primarily reflect her perspective on the pop art of Andy Warhol.
