Raymonde Godin, a painter of Quebec origin, has lived in Paris for 70 years and now in the Drôme Provençale. In the vineyards around her studio, she gleans vine shoots, vines and tendrils. The branch found, hung on the wall, animates the space with a line... "Drawing trees is my violin d'Ingres", says Raymonde Godin. The tree-sign in her painting is never alone, but is part of a graphic and pictorial forest, which creates a framework... Raymonde Godin stenographs colored signs on paper which she then transfers to her canvases, where the trace is born... of condensed signs, filtered by the painter and transplanted on the canvas from the landscape.
