Originally from the Nantes region, Brigitte Moreau Serre joined the studio of Edouard Mac Avoy, a pupil of Laurens, Bonnard and Vuillard, and today considered to be the greatest portraitist of the 20th century. For five years, until the death of the master, she received intelligent and precise instruction in colour before entering the studio of Gérard Le Cloarec. The whole of her pictorial universe offers all the seductions of the earthly harmony where one constantly finds a vitality of colour. She wishes to represent her conception of life on earth and the functioning of the universe. Her work puts "the Woman at the centre of life, in the respect of the other and of Nature".
