A mute since childhood, Susan Te Kahurangi King expresses herself not through words but through mesmerizing drawings. Using a variety of materials, her drawings and sketchbooks range from simple images to pages of richness, fully invested with complex patterns and textures that defy interpretation. Drawing since her teenage years in the 1960s - where some of her figures are reminiscent of comic book characters of the time - Susan Te Kahurangi King stopped drawing in the early 1990s. In 2008, she began drawing again, after a break of almost twenty years.
