"Considering the meaning of your approach, it appears that the question of the reception of the work is at the heart of it as well as the status of the artist. What has forged this double questioning in you?
There are at least two answers to that. First of all, the fact that at the École des Beaux-Arts, I had Christian Boltanski as a teacher. His teaching focused on the question of the figure of the artist much more than on practice. What always stimulated me in him was the simplicity of the means and protocols he used. He is someone who is extremely gifted in the act and whose example leads one to question even more the meaning of the act. Then, I was very marked by the first sentence of King Kong Théorie by Virginie Despentes, which begins as follows: "I write from the ugly, for the ugly, the frigid..."
