Faced with Maurige's incendiary stretches of intensity, one understands the interest that Jean Fournier's attentive, curious and friendly eye could find in them. He had spotted in the artist what he was looking for in painting, unintentional compositions with a minimum of expressiveness in the arrangement, a form of lyricism contained or restrained, a painting of immaterial light, still and floating, ready to invade the environment. Jean-François Maurige continues to offer us all this in his projections full of shapes and bars, from which are born, through the saturation of the colour or the line that spreads from red to black, sparkling moiré that gives birth to a back and forth between painting and reserve charged with breath.
