As soon as he graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Raphaël Zarka took as his starting point the words of Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986): "It is almost an insult to the forms of the world to think that we can invent something or that we even need to invent anything. Meaning: this repertoire of forms built up through the ages provides enough material for creation, without the need to add other plastic forms. A welcome "iconomy" in a world saturated with ready-made images to sell us something. The posture is noble and resigned.
