"For Olivier Passieux, painting is an open medium. By this he means that it calls for all forms and all techniques, that it is able to adapt to all situations and that it welcomes all subjects. Olivier Passieux's work is ultimately made up of a set of canvases, often of large format, which flirt with kitsch, decoration, science fiction and other pictorial styles. With a freedom of spirit that he owes as much to a Gasiorowski as to a Martial Raysse."
Text by Philippe Piguet, Art absolument hors-série, La figuration Narrative, April 2008.
