The museum Beelden aan Zee, literally Statues by the Sea, is the only Dutch museum exclusively dedicated to sculpture. It is located in Scheveningen, a seaside resort near The Hague. It was founded in 1994 by collectors Theo Scholten (1927-2005) and Lida Miltenburg (1922). The focus is on modern and contemporary international sculpture, especially post-World War II sculpture. The main hall hosts between 3 and 4 temporary exhibitions per year. The latter are thematic or constitute a retrospective of an artist.
