Félix Vallotton

1865 (Lausanne (Suisse)) / 1925 (Paris)

It is in the female nude that Vallotton reveals the most of himself: scenes of brothels and hammams tell of his desire to master the bodies of the women he was drawn to. Most of his nudes are faceless, and therefore without identity. Brunettes, blondes or redheads, they compose a monument to a complex femininity, between softness and animality.
