The exhibition

Stéphane Belzère, adventurer of light in an ephemeral world

After graduating from the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the late 1980s, at a time when a certain type of painting was becoming obsolete in France, Stéphane Belzère took a humorous and masterful interest in this medium: the glass jar. Represented under different aspects, glass filters reality, whether it be its nudity in the series of nocturnal self-portraits taken in the double reflection of the windows of his Berlin kitchen, the still lifes of canned food arranged in visual indigestion, or the happy fluidity of light in the stained glass windows of the cathedral of Rodez which subtly takes up certain elements of the iconography of the series of specimens in formaldehyde.
