Architectures "with an appearance that is both ancient and contemporary, built in spaces haunted by the light of a film that would be as if projected onto the canvas": this is what Marc Desgrandchamps says about Eva Nielsen's works. There is indeed something timeless at work here, which is exceeded by the unspeakable space into which the artist draws us. Franco-Danish, with a literary background - hence her taste for quotations - and a father and grandfather who are painters, Eva Nielsen lives in Yerres, in the Essonne region of France, away from the urban bustle. After graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris eight years ago, she has invented her own style, mixing techniques and motifs, and using the idea of prospective ruin in the service of an exclusive praise of painting.
