Dia Al-Azzawi is a key figure in modern Arab art, both in terms of his often committed work and for the action he has carried out over several decades for the recognition of Arab artists through the creation of reviews and the organisation of exhibitions. His works (paintings, sculptures, drawings, lithographs, artists' books with Arab poets, theoretical writings) can be found in numerous collections, including the Mathaf in Doha, the Gulbekian Collection in Barcelona, the Institut du monde arabe in Paris, the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Tate Modern in London.
